The Brief was to create a 5,000 word publication of our choice as long as it was a print based publication. I decided to do a journal about Nasa’s astronauts because I always was fascinated by space and how it impacted those who took it on as well as some of the things they discover up there. Throughout the publication I looked at different journal entries and articles from the Nasa site where they discovered things that were truly amazing and some even had spiritual experiences while being up in space. This is where I discovered the amazing photographs where they took in space and then I realise why they felt the amazed how beautiful the universe truly was. I wanted this to be the main image focus throughout the publication as well as making a very interesting informative magazine. The audience is 18-35 year olds who are aiming to become astronauts or people who are interested in the discoveries that Nasa made such as; astronomers, scientists, teachers and people who want to know about the universe.
The logo I have designed for this magazine means the universe in India, the reason why I choose this was I wanted a different symbol rather than use Plato’s Dodecahedron symbol or the infinity because I seen it in many universe orientated designs and I wanted to find one that was more unique and interesting to look at.
The Brief was to create an annual report that showcased information on a business that we created. The annual report had to contain; letter from chairman, Corporate Social Responsibility, Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Changes in Equity and the performance of the business for a either 3 months to a year.
I decided to do a Italian fashion company, I called it “Manolio,” I based my information on DVF fashion of Diane von Fürstenberg. I wanted the design to have a very luxurious look and feel throughout the design using; marble textures, materials, photographs from other fashion brands, ink strokes and photos of DVF studio to give it the look of a high end fashion magazine while still being informative at the same time.
The project was to inform the audience of young graphic designers who want to learn the rules of typography. But my approach is different to a traditional publication where the type setting is neat and ordered, I decided to have all the rules of typography in the actual taboos itself, making it both the explanation and the example.
The brief was to pick a book series and design book covers that capture the essence of the story in each book individual and as a series. I chose Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle I decided to go for the ink in water approach to capture the bleed sheed and poison used by the murderers in Doyle's books.
The brief was to re-brand a coexisting magazine called "Imprint," we were to do a contemporary design and the main element is to make sure the work in the magazine is distracted by anything else.
